THE DANCER (LA DANSEUSE) (2016) by Stéphanie Di Giusto
“The destiny of a woman who transformed her times”
If you want do something, just do it. When you feel with all your body that you are a dancer, it doesn’t care if your body isn’t graceful, just dance. Loïle Fuller thought this. This is the story about how a west American young woman get be not only a great dancer in not a muse of Rodin, Touluse-Lautrec, Melies, just by her own will.
She chooses to transform in daner thanks to a dress, but not any dress, one with 360 metres of fabric. With each movement of the dress, a new Loïle emerges. The lights and the mirrors make that everything will be magic. But all of this hurt her back and her eyes, nevertheless she danced. Paris fell in love with her and her show full of fantasy.
The young actress Soko is Loïle. She come from the social networks like a singer. She triumphed in its and she took part in others movies, but is with this how she is launched to the cinema world. Why now? It is because the morbid fascination of her co-worker, Johnny Deep and Vanessa Paradais’s daughter, Lily-Rose Melody Deep like Isadora Duncan. This morbid fascination is fed in the storyline. But this is false, the stormy relation between they never happened. I suppose this is for attract to the general public.
Although this movie isn’t brilliant it has some moments really magic. Spectaculars shows of dance. All of these are excellently performed. This bring to us to oneiric places in our imagination. Just for this, “The dancer”, is worth it.
