THE RENDEZ-VOUS OF DÉJÀ VU (LA FILLE DU 14 JUILLET) (2013)
“Is the crisis?, go on holiday!”
Can the movie take us to the summer, only for one moment? Can we conceive the crazy seducción of a girl like a something normal only because this happen in summer? Is the summer such intoxicating?.
It is a film light and brilliant like the summer itself. The movie relates, by the free way how Hector, exhibition room guard, trys to win Trunquette’s heart, an unemployed girl. Under or over this storyline, the film is about the economic crisis, the public health system problems and the government’s crazy idea about stealing one month to the summer.
Fast-motion scenes use for showing a walk by the Champs-Élysees, it is very similar to Jean Seber’s walk in “À bout soufflé”, the others in slow motion, more elegant and delicate scenes. The music, French music, but it isn’t boring, not excessive, not too much romantic music, it is more like a festival, carnival and open-air dance music.
And she, Vimala Pons, Truquette, a new “Amelie”, more casual but equally charming. She is able to full the screen with her presence only. But she is always surrounded by buildings, sands, sea and people.
This film adds further pressure to the Nouvelle Vague, but it is more crazy, irreverent, joke, frivolous, mundane, less chic and more casual. It is a delightful movie that you can enjoy in every seasons and hours of the day.
