THE COMMERCIAL MOVIE OF THE WEEK
100 METERS (100 METROS) (2016) by Marcel Barrena
“Giving up is not an option”
“100 meters” is a film about a disease, about any illness, about the anguish that the human being feels before the limitations and his personal way of facing obstacles. In the case of Ramon and as surely in some others and others suffering from degenerative disease, he did not want to surrender to it and struggled to overcome his own fears, although it takes a lot of strength, not only physical but above all mental, to get so Just take one step and rebel against your own body, that is not only overcoming, it is courage, dignity and self-love.
Marcel Barrena shows with the camera little daily details that we stop seeing and value when life smiles us, shows us things that escape us because we are not attentive to what surrounds us, things, people, life…
In a delicious way, he has put us the drama of Ramón (Dani Rovira), and invited us to look at our own environment, because both Karra Elejalde in the role of Manolo, his father-in-law, and Alexandra Jiménez, playing the role of wife, are spectacular, the unconditional and absolute support of the protagonist’s family despite their differences is admirable. We dont stop seeing scenes full of tenderness and we enter others full of humor or despair, Marcel shows everything, the good, the bad and the worst of this cruel disease.
In delicate moments, we will see other patients like Ramón who share the painful moment of the treatment and give us data that are tremendously necessary to know more about this disease (Multiple sclerosis – MS) and the different points of view of each patient, not all face in the same way and it is important as the protagonist is set in motion so as not to be defeated.
For almost 2 hours there will be everything and Dani Rovira will take care of it. He will give you the version of himself that we all know, with his good humor, his charismatic smile and that way of filling the screen that only the great actors have, it is not necessary to explain much, but if it is remarkable that dramatic part of his character that Shows us in “100 meters”, simply colossal.
We can see the performance of Dani and put the face that we crave, but we will continue to see him because he really leaves the skin in the role of Ramon and will lead us to feel everything he wants you to feel, laughter, tears, despair and much, much admiration.
No doubt we are facing a great movie that will make us enjoy in every way, but it also makes us open our eyes to the way we live, if we believe we are living, if we do not look at what surrounds us, if not We pay attention to the little things that move our world and the amount of unconditional love that we do not know to appreciate in our surroundings.
Totally necessary to see and completely suitable for sensitive people. A great pleasure.
