THE COMMERCIAL FILM OF THE WEEK
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (2017) by Jon Watts
“Aunt May points the way”
When the Marvel universe began to spread and reap a huge success, Disney began to move the strings to bring together on the big screen Spider-Man Avengers. Since Sony did not negotiate and dedicated to take their films “The Amazing”, which came to confirm three parts, but only released two, why it? After a few years of fighting, the rights to Disney ended, without waiting for a single day, to present a series of solo films and their foray into the latest film “Captain America: Civil War”.
Peter Parker is a young man who is learning to use his superpowers. The story begins just as he returns from his fight with the Avengers, and how his life changes from there. He wants to return with the Avengers, however, receives no call or any warning from them, which begins to frustrate him and decides to embark on his way to good. The discovery of a band that deals with trafficking in “alien” weapons will change his life to the point of endangering his own family.
The essence of Spiderman’s mood is maintained, something that is important to make a movie work on a character of which virtually everything is known. Regarding the previous stories have varied things, some agree with “Amazing Spiderman”, others with the “original” and others simply leave the sleeve. The infantilization of the school and its companions is not too well implanted, Flash Thompson is a tirades that anyone could put a smack him and to lay it down, it is very lacking to cause the fear that has always caused. Aunt May has never been so good, putting Marisa Tomey in a good plan takes you out (horrible the scene in which they give her an entrée in a restaurant), leaving aside that the human drama that caused the death of her uncle contributed a lot, and Here it does not appear.
As a film is pretty cool, it is enjoyed and never boring. The contribution of Michael Keaton as a villain is spectacular, you can see his return as a great actor, and it is the only thing that is well acted (leaving aside the pride of Robert Downey Jr. already characteristic in his Ironman character). The twist that tries to give to blow of “appointment” of Peter with the girl that likes is seen to come more miles than a race of “Fast & Furious”, in fact, the performance of Tom Holland in that situation seemed to me quite pathetic, without pretending, as wanting to show who he is when he is in front of the one who wants to kill him. As for the romance, we must thank the fact of not overloading the scenes, there are four encounters and also the end of this is pretty good for what could be expected, even if they do not fit a lot of things.
In short, Spiderman does not return to origins, but a new origin originates. This new personage looks easy and adapted, especially comparing with the tontuna of Andrew Garfield, which did not strike neither with “Loctite Extraforte”. The film is very digestible and the aim of giving you know a little character and then put it next year in the movie “The Avengers” is quite positive. Of course, missing details for those who enjoy seeing all sorts of “Spiderman” and that, true to the latest comics, the essence of science does not appear anywhere. An entertainment and nothing else.
