The 11 most anticipated independent films of 2016
6. Xavier Dolan’s Juste la fin du monde
6. Xavier Dolan's Juste la fin du monde
The plot: A terminally ill writer returns home after a long absence to tell his family that he is dying.
Reasons for anticipation: 25 year-old canadian Xavier Dolan already has an important career and has become one of the favourite filmmakers in the festival circuit. Dolan has a huge talent but also a tendency to excess, and he is able to experiment with the aspect ratio in “Mommy” or create very powerful images in “Laurence Anyways”. In his new film he has gathered an impressive cast led by Gaspard Ulliel, Léa Seydoux, Marion Cotillard and Vincent Casel. Dolan will compete in Cannes again if the film is finished on time.
Keep in mind that: Dolan is already working on his first american film, “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan”, starring Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon.
