“La increíble historia de la banda que definió una era”

¿Qué fue primero Oasis o el Britpop? ¿A quién le importa mientras podamos escuchar sus canciones como ecos del resurgir de la música británica? Aún a día de hoy se me eriza cada pelo de mi pequeño cuerpo cada vez que escucho “Wonderwall”, “Stand by me” o “Say what you say” en algún lugar. Recuerdo perfectamente como aquellos jóvenes veinteañeros de un barrio obrero de Manchester sembraban de caos y buena música cualquier lugar por el que pasaban. Era la década de los 90 y los medios de comunicación los comparaban sin pudor alguno con Los Beatles. Y llegaron a ser tan grandes como ellos.

Este documental, cumpliendo con lo que el género demanda, es tan sólo eso. Un conjunto de videos caseros, momentos en los estudios de grabación, fotos de los hermanos Gallagher, conciertos… Una gran cantidad de información acerca de la banda, cómo se formó, como les llego el existo, porque en el más multitudinario de sus conciertos, en Knebworth, sintieron que llegaba el final. Pero podría ser acerca de Oasis o de cualquier otra banda, le sobra sentimentalismo y le falta la brutalidad, la espontaneidad y la rabia del grupo. Es un intento de llegar a la propia genialidad de la banda pero desprovisto de alma.

Solamente la música, su música, nos recuerda sobre quien va este documental. Sus mejores canciones, y no tienen ninguna mala, letras, acordes… no actúan como mero acompañamiento, si no que se alzan como protagonistas sin los que todo lo demás no se sostiene. Es lo único que aporta brillantez al film sobre una banda que fue tan grande como fugaz. Quizá, por ello se la recuerde todavía hoy como una leyenda del convulso panorama musical de los 90.

What was first Oasis or Britpop? Who cares its? We can listen their music like echoes of British music resurgence. I feel like so great when I listen “Wonderwall”, “Stand by me” or “Say what you say” in some place. I remember like these young boys from a working class neighbourhood of Manchester wreaked havoc while played a very good music in ‘90s. Then the mass media told about their that they were like a Beatles. Well, they really were like The Beatles.

This documentary doesn’t provide news about this genre but is a valuable audiovisual document about Oasis. Homes videos, moments at the recording studios, pictures about Gallagher brothers…A lot of quantity of information about how make the band, how they get a success and how in the biggest concert, in Knebworth, all of them had a same feeling, the end of the band was near. But it is sentiment left over and savageness isn’t in the film. It could be more anarchic for capture the essence of this band. This movie could be about Oasis or about another band, it is like another documentary.

Only their music is something gives soul. Their best songs, and they don’t make any bad, sound in all moment, not only like an accompaniment if not like a protagonist more in the film. The best lyrics, the best chords, the essence of the one decade only in songs. All of this from a band to much big and for this reason has a premature end. But, maybe, this make their a legend and now everybody know their songs.
